No team has won more NFL championships than the Green Bay Packers.
There’s a reason it’s called “Titletown.” Green Bay, Wisconsin is the home of the Packers, the leader in the clubhouse when it comes to NFL championships. The franchise won nine titles prior to the Super Bowl Era and four more since. Of course, the trophy is named after the franchise’s Hall of fame coach Vince Lombardi. And for what it’s worth, the current Packers are the reigning NFC North champions.
The Pack captured the first two Super Bowls and then also went on to hoist the Lombardi in both 1996 and 2010. It’s a franchise loaded with some all-time greats and in some instances, some future Hall of Famers as well. So as is the case with any great organization, narrowing the field down to 10 players is highly difficult. But there will be a mention or two as some of the other legends that performed for this club.
10. Sterling Sharpe, WR
As his brother and presenter shared the stage with him in Canton, Ohio, in 2011, Shannon Sharpe may have said it best when he stated that he was the second-best football player in his family.
In seven seasons with the Packers, Sterling Sharpe caught 595 passes for 8,134 yards and 65 scores. In 1992 and ‘93, he became the first player in NFL history to snare at least 100 balls in consecutive seasons. His final three seasons in the league, with quarterback Brett Favre at the controls for the most part, saw Sharpe total 314 receptions for 3854 yards and 42 touchdowns in 48 outings.
Of course, the five-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro saw his career end with the final regular-season game if 1994 (as documented by Bob Garcia of Sportscasting.com). There have been examples of players with shortened careers (Gale Sayers, Dwight Stephenson, Terrell Davis, etc.) who reached the Hall of Fame. Could Sterling join his brother one day?
