Pete Carroll didn’t rule out signing Josh Gordon…or Antonio Brown, for that matter
The Seahawks are still looking to add at wideout, and may go to unusual means to do so. Rather than looking at clearly available options who could contribute right away, Carroll and Co. are entertaining the idea of signing embattled wide receiver Antonio Brown, who was recently handed an eight-game suspended for his off-field behavior, which included alleged sexual assault.
Signing Brown is a significant risk, especially given his actions towards the end of his tenure in Pittsburgh, Oakland and even New England. Brown has a vote of confidence from Seahawks QB Russell Wilson, who worked out with the veteran this offseason, but is that really enough to offset all of his previous actions?

“Well, what I’d say to you is what we always say because it’s what we always do and who we are,” Carroll said. “John (Schneider) is competing at every turn and there has never been a process, unless we just missed it, that we weren’t involved with to understand what the chances were of helping our club. He’s all over it. He knows what’s going on right now as much as you can and it remains a very complex situation and we just need to see where it fits somewhere down the road.”
Perhaps a stronger possibility would be bringing back Gordon, as the league is still deciding whether to lift the suspension they gave him last Dec. Should that occur, there would be very little keeping the former Pro Bowler from re-signing with Seattle, as he played in five games with the Hawks last season.
“Josh did a really good job with us last year. He fit in really well. … So, we’re very open to that thought. But we’ll see what happens. I don’t know. I can’t tell you what’s gonna happen with that,” Carroll said.
Either player, from a pure talent perspective, would be a great addition to a wide receiving corps that already includes the likes of Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf.
