Eagles safety Jalen Mills is getting ready to make the full switch from cornerback to safety.
This offseason, Philadelphia Eagles fans erupted in celebration when it was announced the team had agreed to a deal to bring back cornerback Jalen Mills. In a bit of a twist, Philly won’t be lining him up at corner this year.
That’s because the team re-signed him to play at safety instead. While the transition may be difficult for some players, that simply has not been the case for Mills.
In case fans needed some assurance of that, they’ll love what Rodney McLeod had to say during a zoom call with reporters on Thursday.

“I believe the chemistry is going to be a lot easier than people think,” McLeod said during the call. “So far, so good.”
It goes without saying, but these are some tremendous words from McLeod, especially for all the Eagles fans who have had concerns about Mills making the move over to a new position in the secondary. Even better news, McLeod said he’s taken Mills under his wing throughout the offseason.
The two watched film together and McLeod essentially acted as a coach for Mills as he prepares for his transition. That news shouldn’t come as a surprise, though, as McLeod has always been viewed as an outstanding teammate in addition to being a great player.
Things most definitely won’t be easy for Mills early on this season, but the 6-0 safety has been grinding for months in preparation for Week 1. Once he gets fully settled in, look for him and McLeod to be quite the formidable partnership.
Should that turn out to be the case, it will only help the Eagles in their quest of repeating as NFC East champs.
