Grant Delpit not only injury Browns defense is dealing with

The Browns are dealing with yet another injury on defense

The Cleveland Browns are having a disaster of a day at Monday’s Training Camp session.

The biggest news of the day was rookie safety Grant Delpit going down with what is being reported as an Achilles injury. That is never a good sign. The secondary is already dealing with an injury to Kevin Johnson and Greedy Williams, also suffered an injury Monday. The news continued with M.J. Stewart Jr. and the Browns just can’t catch a break.

Browns secondary losing members by the minute

The only real position of depth for the Browns on defense is along the defensive line. The linebacking corps took a blow when Mack Wilson was carted off with an injury, but did make a nice addition by signing Malcolm Smith.

The secondary is now in question with all this injury news. Terrance Mitchell also missed practice and Denzel Ward may have to carry the cornerbacks by himself if this trend continues.

Delpit’s injury appears to be the most serious among those in the secondary. The hope is Johnson, Williams, Mitchell and Stewart, who was acquired this month, can bounce back as the start of the season is less than three weeks away.

Next: Browns safety Grant Delpit carted off practice field

There is no preseason in 2020 and that should have meant the risk of injuries went down. However, that is not the reality for the Browns and new head coach Kevin Stefanski may have to find a new balance at practice to protect his players while also still getting them ready for competitive football against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1. Is covering the defense in bubble wrap an option?
