Randy Gregory has been reinstated and will rejoin the Dallas Cowboys.
No one can question that Dallas Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory‘s talent or potential, but he has become one of the most radioactive players in the league due to his inability to routinely pass drug tests. Jerry Jones and the Cowboys haven’t given up on him, and that faith has led to a scenario in which Gregory can see the field in 2020.
Gregory is going to be reinstated after another lengthy suspension. He will be expected to make his debut as a backup in the middle of the 2020 season.
Gregory will report to the facility soon, but he can’t practice with the team until the leadup to their Week 4 matchup against the Cleveland Browns. The first game he can play in will be Week 7 against division rivals Washington.

Gregory was considered to be one of the best prospects in the 2015 NFL Draft after a productive stint at Nebraska, but a failed drug test at the NFL Combine, the first of many, helped him slide to the latter half of the second round. Gregory, who has missed all of 2017 and 2019 due to suspension, has played in just 28 games as a pro, recording seven sacks.
Gregory has since put out a statement on Twitter, confirming that he will use his second chance to the fullest while becoming a “better father, player, citizen of Dallas, and teammate.”
Gregory’s NFL career has never truly gotten out of first gear due to his legal troubles. However, if he and fellow troubled pass rusher Aldon Smith are sincere in their regret for their past actions, Mike McCarthy might have an elite combination of pass rushers to line up on the other side of Demarcus Lawrence.
