Josh Rosen is a free agent and the Chiefs should be the team to give him his third chance because Andy Reid could turn him into a respectable quarterback.
After being a big-time name coming out of UCLA and getting drafted 10th overall by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2018 NFL Draft, Josh Rosen is now 0-for-2 with his two NFL teams. The Cardinals gave up on him after just one year and the Dolphins did the same thing after they were unable to trade him.
With Rosen being left hanging once again, it’s clear that he’s not going to land a starting job anywhere in the NFL. That means he’ll be looking at being a backup for someone in the league, and a team that could make a lot of sense is the Kansas City Chiefs.
Just think of how beneficial it’d be to have Josh Rosen learn from Andy Reid.
No, the Chiefs don’t need a starting quarterback; they have Patrick Mahomes, who is the BEST quarterback in the entire league and he has the Super Bowl ring to prove it. That being said, the backup spot could use some work, as they’re currently working with Chad Henne, Matt Moore and XFL star Jordan Ta’amu.
Reid has shown that he has an amazing ability to “fix” quarterbacks and turn them into something special. One of the biggest names to point to is Kevin Kolb, who shined in Philadelphia while Reid was still there. The Eagles were then able to land a second-round pick and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (which was a huge deal back then) in exchange for Kolb’s services, and we all know how Kolb’s career went once he wasn’t around Reid anymore.
If Rosen came to Kansas City, he wouldn’t have any pressure whatsoever when it came to being the future of the franchise. Instead, he could sit on the sidelines and learn from both Mahomes and Reid. Then, perhaps during a blowout game or a future preseason game, if Rosen were able to show off what he could do, a team would come calling for his services.
Rosen is just two years removed from being the 10th overall pick in the draft, so there’s still a ton of potential there. He’s going to be labeled a bust, but it wasn’t his fault that the Cardinals had an atrocious offensive line or that the Dolphins had literally no talent at all during his short time there. Josh Rosen is still worth taking a flyer on. Just imagine how much working with Andy Reid could change his career.
