Eagles get encouraging injury update on Jalen Reagor

Jalen Reagor may make his NFL debut in Week 1 after all vs. Washington.

Philadelphia Eagles fans should be encouraged about Jalen Reagor‘s latest injury update.

The Eagles used the No. 21 overall pick on the talented wideout out of TCU in the 2020 NFL Draft. Expected to be a future star for The Birds, Reagor suffered a small labrum tear in late August that might have pushed his NFL debut back until late September or early October. However, he might play in Week 1 vs. the Washington Football Team after being a full practice participant Thursday.

How much will Jalen Reagor play on Sunday vs. Washington if he does play?

The injury report for Week 1 will come out on Friday for Sunday’s games. We should expect to see Reagor listed as questionable with his labrum issue. If he’s listed as probable, then he’ll be used a bunch in Doug Pederson’s offense. If he’s listed as doubtful, don’t count on him playing. Should he be questionable as expected, Reagor will play a little bit, but probably not a ton vs. Washington.

Even though this is a road game against a division rival, Washington is rebuilding under new head coach Ron Rivera. There will be no fans in attendance at FedEx Field on Sunday afternoon. Though Washington may have a great pass rush and a solid defense, there are concerns to be had with the team’s overall offensive viability. For that reason, Philadelphia should win Week 1 comfortably.

Though the Eagles will probably want him playing in Week 2 in their home opener vs. the Los Angeles Rams, Philadelphia could theoretically wait until Week 4 before trotting Reagor out there, as close to fully health as possible. The Eagles should be favored in each of their first three games: at Washington, home vs. Los Angeles and home vs. the rebuilding Cincinnati Bengals.

Next: David Montgomery sounds optimistic he’ll play in Week 1

But once the calendar flips to October, the Eagles’ passing game will definitely need Reagor. Their first three games of the month are at the San Francisco 49ers, at the Pittsburgh Steelers and home vs. the Baltimore Ravens. Philadelphia could win one of these games, would be lucky to win two of them and there’s no way their going undefeated in that three-game stretch by any means.

A healthy Reagor will give the Eagles the flight they have been looking for in the receiving corps.
