Tarik Cohen sees himself as an Earl Campbell type

Tarik Cohen may be known as a shifty running back, but he wants everyone to know he can be a bruiser too.

Checking in at 5-foot-6 and 179 pounds, Chicago Bears running back Tarik Cohen surely isn’t the biggest running back in the NFL. However, don’t think for a second he’s ever going to shy away from 250-pound linebackers who meet him up the middle trying to power him to the ground.

Cohen made that much clear during a zoom call with reporters on Thursday. In the middle of that session, Cohen, in funny fashion, let everyone know that he’s actually a power back. On top of that, he decided to literally flex on everyone in the process.

Tarik Cohen’s small stature won’t prevent him from going up against some of the biggest bodies in the NFL

Cohen has a bubbling personality, which he once again showcased on Thursday. You think he’s scared of defenders despite him only being 5-foot-6? No chance whatsoever.

As funny as his comments were, he’s most definitely not a bruising back and no one will be confusing him with legendary running back Earl Campbell down the road.

However, Cohen has most certainly been a key figure for Chicago’s offense in recent years, both running the rock and catching the ball out of the backfield. In the thrilling Week 1 win over the Detroit Lions, Cohen rushed the ball seven times for 41 yards, averaging 5.9 yards per carry. In 2019, he finished with a career-high 79 receptions.

Because of his great play on the field, coupled with his swagger, Cohen has become a fan favorite in The Windy City. His comments on Thursday will only grow his popularity in Chicago, but don’t expect Matt Nagy to start giving him all the goal-line carries in Week 2 or the rest of the campaign.
