Injuries are springing up all over the place in Week 2 of the NFL season.
Week 2 of the NFL season hasn’t been short on big plays, but we’ve also seen some of the game’s biggest names go down with some serious injuries.
The biggest injury of the day belongs to New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley, who appeared to suffer a knee injury in New York’s game against the Chicago Bears. Barkley was seen slamming his wrist on the turf after the injury before being carted off the field
Denver Broncos quarterback Drew Lock has also been ruled out after picking up a nasty shoulder injury in his seventh career start. Pittsburgh Steelers pass rusher Bud Dupree speared Lock in the shoulder and forced a fumble. Veteran backup Jeff Driskel came in to replace him.
The San Francisco 49ers picked up another nasty injury, this time to star pass rusher Nick Bosa. The 2019 Defensive Rookie of the Year was carted off the field after coming down awkwardly on his leg and was ruled out with a knee injury.
Not even a few plays after the Bosa injury, former No. 3 overall pick Solomon Thomas, who is getting more playing time after Dee Ford’s injury, was also carted off the field with a very similar injury. This isn’t ideal for San Francisco to say the least.
The bad luck kept coming for San Francisco, as quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and running back Raheem Mostert both were ruled out for the second half due to ankle and knee injuries, respectively.
The Minnesota Vikings weren’t exempt from the injury bug, as linebacker Anthony Barr was also ruled doubtful to return against the Indianapolis Colts with a shoulder injury.
Bears running back David Montgomery, who scored against the Giants as a receiver, has also been taken to the locker room.
The Colts had big plans for wide receiver Parris Campbell, but those plans might need to be put off for a while after he went down holding his knee against the Minnesota Vikings.
Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers, one member of LA’s three-headed backfield monster, injured himself on a red-zone run against the Philadelphia Eagles. He has been ruled out with cracked ribs.
After a relatively healthy Week 1, Week 2 has seen several star players go down with serious injuries.
