Multiple Kansas City Chiefs players reacted to the news of their Week 4 matchup against the New England Patriots being postponed due to positive COVID-19 tests on both teams.
Week 4 of this NFL season has been impacted after multiple players and staff members on the Tennessee Titans tested positive for COVID-19. As a result of the growing list of positive tests, the league opted to move their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers to Week 7. The league thought it was out of the woods, but that was far from the case.
On Saturday morning, news broke that New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton yielded a positive COVID-19 test result. Hours later, Kansas City Chiefs practice squad signal caller Jordan Ta’amu also tested positive. As a result of this, the NFL announced that the Chiefs’ contest against the Patriots will likely be played on Tuesday night, instead of its Sunday afternoon time-slot.

With the reschedule, the Chiefs will now play multiple games in less than two weeks
The postponement to Tuesday night depends on whether there are any additional positive tests in the facilities of the Chiefs and Patriots. Let’s not forget that there is an incubation period with the coronavirus, meaning an individual might test negative, only to yield a positive result days later. An individual can experience symptoms of the coronavirus from as early as two days to as late as 14 days.
In this contest’s place, the NFL moved up the Indianapolis Colts-Chicago Bears matchup from its initial 1:00 p.m. ET slot to 4:25 p.m. ET.
With this new kickoff time, Kansas City is in an unenviable position. If their game against New England goes on without issue on Tuesday, they’ll be playing three games in the span of 10 days. The Chiefs play the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, Oct. 11, followed by the Buffalo Bills on Thursday, Oct. 15. It’s unknown if the league will make some rearrangements to ensure the Chiefs have enough time to rehab, but that’s one grueling schedule.
