Detroit Lions, New Orleans Saints

Saints vs. Lions won’t be postponed following Michael Burton COVID-19 scare

The New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions will face off on Sunday as originally scheduled after it was announced Michael Burton doesn’t have the coronavirus.

Late Saturday night, the New Orleans Saints were given quite the scare when it was revealed that fullback Michael Burton had tested positive for the coronavirus, putting the status of Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions completely up in the air.

However, it looks like the two teams will be taking the field after all. That’s because some great news has come in for Burton, as it was reported his test came back as a false positive, and he actually doesn’t have COVID-19.

Obviously, this is incredible news for Burton. It goes without saying, but his health and the safety of the rest of the team is New Orleans’ top priority right now. Fortunately for them, he doesn’t have the coronavirus.

As soon as it was reported he had tested positive, worry began to spread that the game between the Saints and Lions would be postponed. We’ve seen the Patriots vs. Chiefs game already be postponed after Cam Newton tested positive. That game is now set to be player either on Monday or Tuesday.

This potentially would have been the case for the Saints and Lions, but that’s no longer in the cards with the two teams all set to face off at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. Entering that matchup, both squads are a disappointing 1-2 on the campaign.

Drew Brees, Alvin Kamara and the rest of the offense will look to get back on track, while the Lions will do everything they can to try and limit the Saints’ elite playmakers.
