Fletcher Cox leaves Eagles-49ers game to receive IV

The star defensive lineman of the Philadelphia Eagles leaves with an apparent leg injury in Week 4 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Entering their Week 4 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, the Philadelphia Eagles were severely banged up on the offensive side of the ball. The Eagles had a scare in the first half, as starting right tackle Lane Johnson left the game with an ankle injury, but later returned. Philadelphia had yet another scare with cornerback Darius Slay. But the horrors didn’t end there for the Eagles.

In the fourth quarter, star defensive tackle Fletcher Cox laid out on his back and signaled for the team’s medical trainers before walking over to the sidelines under his own power. Shortly afterwards, Philadelphia’s training staff were shown trying to roll out Cox’s right calf, before he departed for the locker room. After returning late in the fourth quarter, it was determined that Cox received an IV for a right calf cramp.

The injuries keep on coming for Philadelphia

As mentioned earlier, Cox wasn’t the only star Eagles defender to deal with an injury scare during their Week 4 game. In the first half, cornerback Darius Slay took a Mike McGlinchey helmet to his right knee during 49ers rookie receiver Brandon Aiyuk’s rushing touchdown. Slay limped off the field, but returned later in the second quarter.

Through three games this season, Cox recorded eight total tackles (two for loss), three quarterback hits and one sack.

Eagles fans have been put through too many scary situations, and it’s not even Halloween yet! With the amount of injuries they’ve had to deal with in the early goings of this 2020 campaign, they could ill-afford to lose their stud defensive tackle. Luckily, Cox wasn’t dealing with a debilitating injury and was healthy enough to finish the game, as the Eagles continue their quest to clinch the NFC East title for the second-consecutive season.
