Bucs and Tom Brady lose OJ Howard for rest of season

Tight end O.J. Howard has officially been lost for the season, as he suffered a torn achilles in the Week 4 victory over the Chargers.

As good as Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were feeling following their Week 4 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, some unfortunate news has arrived for the team out on the injury front.

That’s because, as expected, star tight end OJ Howard won’t be able to play another down this season after it was confirmed he suffered a torn Achilles. Just brutal news for Howard and the rest of the Tampa Bay offense.

The bad injury luck has continued for OJ Howard, who will now miss the rest of the 2020 campaign

Injuries have plagued Howard early on in his career, really preventing him from reaching his ultimate potential with the Bucs. There were also trade rumors surrounding him last season and this offseason, but Bruce Arians had big plans for him in the offense catching balls from Brady. Now, that will no longer be the case.

Before suffering his injury, Howard had 11 receptions for 146 yards and two touchdowns to his name. That included his game on Sunday against LA, where he hauled in three balls from Brady for 50 yards and a score.

A first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Howard missed two games last season and was forced to sit out six contests the year before due to injury. In 2019, he had an underwhelming season, posting 53 receptions for 459 yards and only one touchdown.

Unfortunately for him and the Bucs, he hasn’t been able to live up to his hype since arriving to Tampa Bay. Now, he’ll have to wait until next season to show his doubters he can still be an elite tight end in this league.
