Antonio Brown could end up signing with the Seattle Seahawks once he is eligible to play in Week 9.
Antonio Brown is eligible to return to the NFL following the conclusion of play in Week 8. Some fans may think their own favorite team has no interest at all in the receiver. However, several teams have Brown on their radar, including the Seattle Seahawks who is reportedly the favorites to sign the former All-Pro, according to Adam Schefter.
Antonio Brown could make the Seahawks the prohibitive NFC favorites
Schefter also notes how other teams remain interested. The key for the Seahawks is being 5-0 so far this season and giving Brown perhaps his best chance to win a Super Bowl. The need is there as well considering D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett are the only two Seahawks receivers with at least 200 yards through five games.
Brown returning midway through the season eliminates other teams, such as the Houston Texans, from keeping interest if the playoffs are out of reach. The receiver will likely avoid signing with a team if they aren’t even expected to make the playoffs.
Russell Wilson was seen training with Brown this past offseason and the connection is there. He is also one of the few leaders who appear capable of handling Brown at this point in time. Another is Tom Brady, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have said they aren’t interested in Brown.
The talent is clearly too much for teams to ignore. Brown appeared in one game for the New England Patriots in 2019 after his tumultuous time in Oakland ended before he could make a single catch.
The Seahawks are a team that has stood by another receiver with a checkered past in Josh Gordon. They believe in their system and getting Brown in would not be a shock. The only shock would be him turning down the opportunity to help that team compete for a championship.
