The Philadelphia Eagles have a Carson Wentz problem. Here are three players who should replace him in the near future.
It’s amazing to think of what could have been if Carson Wentz had not suffered that freak knee injury midway through the 2017 season. That year, he appeared to be the proverbial favorite to win the NFL MVP, and upon returning, he hasn’t been the same. Flash forward to 2020, and his numbers are nightmare fuel. Winnable games are a chore for Wentz, as he showcases poor awareness when attempting passes and he has trouble holding onto the football.
The Philadelphia Eagles have to have a backup plan at the quarterback position, especially if they want to compete in the winnable NFC East. If Wentz can’t get the job done, then they have to look for help in the near future. Here are three possible replacements for Wentz.

Jacoby Brissett
QB Indianapolis Colts
When it comes to the best available quarterbacks at the NFL trade deadline this upcoming Tuesday or in free agency at season’s end, Jacoby Brissett stands above the rest. Brissett was one of the two coveted backup signal callers on the New England Patriots, alongside Jimmy Garoppolo. Brissett was traded to the Indianapolis Colts in 2017, but never really got an extended look.
Once Andrew Luck shockingly retired from the NFL last year, head coach Frank Reich pivoted to Brissett, while the front office gave him a two-year contract extension. Brissett had a respectable first season as Colts starter, where he completed 60.9-percent of his passes for 2,942 yards, 18 touchdowns and six interceptions in 15 games. The Colts went 7-8 with Brissett under center, and they never really gave him a second shot at proving his worth, as the team signed former Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers this past offseason.
Brissett deserves a second chance, and Philadelphia could be one the more desirable landing spots for him, especially since he’d be working with head coach Doug Pederson. Hey, Brissett would be a solid “1-B” to Wentz’s “1-A.”
