Poor Atlanta Falcons fans are never comfortable with a lead around Tom Brady.
As if 28-3 wasn’t bad enough, now the Falcons are in the same division as Tom Brady. He serves as a constant reminder of a Super Bowl that should’ve been theirs. Sunday was even more deja vu, as Atlanta blew a second half lead to the playoff-bound Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
These Bucs aren’t as strong and well-rounded as some of Brady’s best in New England, but they’re capable offensively and feature some strong contributors offensively. While they’d been struggling entering the game, an impressive come-front-behind victory can do wonders for their confidence. For their sake, the Falcons were able to deliver.
The Falcons were up 17-0 at halftime. What happened?
Atlanta sports happened. The Falcons are talented offensively and by all means should be able to hang on to a double-digit halftime lead against just about anyone, including Brady. Yet, this is the Falcons, and no lead is safe. It’s merely how Atlanta operates.
Now, Atlanta wasn’t helped by a bad spot which gave the Buccaneers a late first down which allowed them to run out the clock, but nonetheless, it never should have come down to such shenanigans.
No player is more comfortable playing from behind than Brady, and the fact he’s proven he can make up normally-insurmountable deficits against the Falcons in the past gave him the confidence necessary to do so again.
This season can’t be over soon enough for Atlanta.
