NFL execs think Deshaun Watson-Jimmy Garoppolo trade could happen

Could we see the Houston Texans and San Francisco 49ers pull off a monster trade this offseason featuring Deshaun Watson and Jimmy Garoppolo?

Hang on to your hats, NFL fans, because there are some earth-shattering reports coming out of Houston that will surely have you turning your head. Much has been said since the Houston Texans surprisingly hired Nick Caserio as their new general manager.

Since then, the word is that Deshaun Watson is furious with the organization and he could end up asking the team to trade him this offseason. On Sunday, a new report has surfaced stating there’s talks among NFL execs stating that Watson and Jimmy Garoppolo could end up getting swapped.

A Deshaun Watson-Jimmy Garoppolo trade would be unreal

This isn’t the only potential Watson trade we’ve seen, as ESPN’s Chris Mortensen also said we could see talks of a deal to Miami involving Tua Tagovailoa as well. In the case of Garoppolo, he simply hasn’t lived up to the hype with the 49ers. While he did lead the team to the Super Bowl last season, his struggles have been highlighted for a while now under Kyle Shanahan.

There’s even been talks of San Francisco moving on from him as the team’s starter this offseason if they can find someone else to run the offense. What about Watson? He’s clearly not happy in Houston. Team owner Cal McNair continues to make things worse in terms of staying on his franchise quarterback’s good side.

With the growing expectation that Watson will ask to be dealt, getting Garoppolo and some draft picks in return could be what Houston is looking for. There’s obviously plenty of moving pieces here, but this trade scenario will be something to monitor moving forward.
