Are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers going to the White House?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made NFL history when it played … and then won the first-ever Super Bowl to take place in the same venue as one of the teams playing. It was also the seventh time quarterback Tom Brady has won a Super Bowl, his first with the Buccaneers.

As is tradition when a team wins a big championship, the sitting President of the United States typically invites them to the White House. With things the way they are now, both in regards to the political climate and the COVID-19 pandemic, visiting the White House is up in the air.

The answer to the question if the Tampa Bay Buccaneers going to the White House isn’t black and white.

First, they have been invited by President Joe Biden, but only when it’s safe to do so.

“We will be inviting – I don’t have an update if it’s happened yet – but I do have an update that we look forward to inviting the Buccaneers, as well as the 2020 NBA champions, the Lakers, to the White House when it is COVID safe, but I don’t know when that will take place yet,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said.

Tom Brady is a supporter of Donald Trump

If they actually show up is another thing.

During former President Donald Trump’s reign teams took a stand and announced they would not visit the White House due to his controversial politics.

The roles may be reversed this year as Brady is an outspoken Trump supporter and may sit out attending the visit in solidarity. If Brady sits out, the team may attend without him or decline the offer altogether.

Only time will tell who visits when the invitation is officially extended.
