Chiefs get great news on Patrick Mahomes foot surgery

Patrick Mahomes offseason program is off to a great start.

Mahomes loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers obviously stings, but the young quarterback is at just the beginning of his prime, and to reach the new heights he’s expected to one day hit, he needs to make sure he remains healthy.

With that in mind, Mahomes underwent foot surgery due to an injury related to his turf toe, which he suffered pre-Super Bowl. Despite having his mobility rather limited, Mahomes managed to run literal miles as he was forced to escape a vicious Tampa Bay pass-rush on multiple occasions.

Per doctors, Patrick Mahomes surgery was a success

Mahomes surgery went well and he’s in an offseason recovery program, which he has plenty of time to complete. The soon-to-be fifth-year quarterback shouldn’t have any problem being ready for offseason mini camp when the time comes. Frankly, the Chiefs could give him more time than that if it’s absolutely necessary — it’s not like Mahomes has anything to prove to Andy Reid, Eric Bieniemy and Co. this offseason.

Mahomes’ Chiefs were quite beleaguered entering that final game against the Bucs, as all teams usually are come the Super Bowl. Yet, with their offensive line in shambles, the question remains if the Chiefs would’ve put up more of a fight with some capable starters protecting Mahomes up front.

If anything, Brett Veach will invest more heavily in protecting Mahomes when the time comes, perhaps this April in the 2021 NFL Draft. The Chiefs are due to rebound, and they’ll have revenge on their minds.

Could a rematch with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers be in the cards?
