Seahawks Chris Carson replacement is already on the roster

It’s looking more and more likely that running back Chris Carson will not be returning to the Seattle Seahawks next season.

It’s already been a hectic offseason for John Schneider and the Seattle Seahawks. Trade rumors have swirled involving Russell Wilson, as the star quarterback came out and said he wasn’t happy with the team’s ability to protect him. Well, on top of that, the team is also trying to figure out a way to keep Chris Carson in town.

Unfortunately for Seahawks fans, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. Per a report, it’s seeming more and more likely that the star running back will be suiting up for a different team come next season.

With Carson looking to be headed elsewhere, who will take over as the Seahawks’ starting running back? Well, it looks like the job could be headed to Rashaad Penny. The young running back has battled injuries early on in his career, but when healthy, he’s shown plenty of potential.

In 2018 as a rookie, Penny rushed the ball 85 times for 419 yards and two touchdowns. In 2019, he followed that up by rushing for 370 yards and three scores, averaging 5.7 yards per carry. Unfortunately last season, Penny was only able to appear in three games due to a knee injury. He entered the year recovering from his torn ACL in 2019.

Now, his focus this offseason will be to keep getting himself healthy and as close to 100 percent as possible. If he’s indeed called upon as the starter, Seahawks fans everywhere will be hoping his knee won’t be giving him any issues. With Carson likely out, Penny will need to step up big time with the bright lights on him.
