Per a report, J.J. Watt has high interest in the Cleveland Browns and what he thinks about Baker Mayfield could have a huge impact on his upcoming decision.
This offseason, just about every single NFL fan across the country is waiting to see where former Houston Texans standout J.J. Watt will be playing next. After an incredible career with the Texans, Watt is now a free agent for the first time in his career and several teams have emerged as contenders to sign him.
The Cleveland Browns are in the hunt, with Watt having mutual interest in the team as well. With that being said, could quarterback Baker Mayfield be what makes or breaks things for the franchise here?
J.J. Watt signing with the Browns could be in the hands of Baker Mayfield
If you’re Watt, you most definitely want to go to a winning situation, especially after the Texans went 4-12 last season. The Browns stunned plenty of folks out there in 2020, taking down the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card Round and nearly upsetting the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round.
While Mayfield had his struggles at times last season, he also put on a show by throwing for 3,563 yards and 26 touchdowns. Now, Watt has to figure out if he thinks Mayfield has what it takes to send the team over the top and help them compete for a Super Bowl.
Again, Watt wants to go to a contender. Why do you think he’s been linked with the Green Bay Packers so heavily as well? The idea of watching Aaron Rodgers light up opposing defenses has to be appealing to Watt, of course, along with playing at Lambeau Field.
Soon enough, we could be finding out where Watt will play next. If he picks the Browns, Cleveland fans will have Mayfield to thank for that.
