It’s start-over time in Detroit and there could be a lot of changes ahead.

No NFL championship since 1957. No playoff win since 1991. No division title since 1993.

The Detroit Lions remain the only team in the NFC not to make a Super Bowl appearance. And the past three seasons have been nothing short of a disaster. The Matt Patricia Era did not make it through three entire seasons and the team owns a combined 14-33-1 record since 2018.

New general manager Brad Holmes have been busy restructuring contracts (see NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo) as the club looks to open up cap room (via Spotrac). So which three veterans could be on their way out of Motown?

3. QB Chase Daniel

It doesn’t become official until the afternoon of March 17, but former Rams’ signal-caller Jared Goff takes over for Matthew Stafford in the Motor City. He spent five years in Los Angeles, helped lead the team to the playoffs three times – one of those runs resulting in an appearance in Super Bowl LIII.

So could that mean that the club could also be in the market to change the backup quarterback position? Veteran Chase Daniel has made five starts in 11 seasons with five different franchises. He played in four games with the Lions in 2020 and threw for 264 yards, one score and two interceptions. It will be interesting to see if he is in Detroit’s plans for 2021.
