Bucs: Antonio Brown hints at return to Tampa for himself and ‘Playoff Lenny’

Antonio Brown hints that himself and ‘Playoff Lenny’ are going to work out a return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

After winning Super Bowl 55, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers managed to keep the majority of the band together this new league year. They re-signed tight end Rob Gronkowski, linebacker Shaquil Barrett and Lavonte David, while placing the franchise tag on wide receiver Chris Godwin. Yet there are some members of the 2020 roster who remain on the open market. Specifically, wideout Antonio Brown and running back Leonard Fournette.

During an Instagram Live interview, Brown was asked if he was going to return to Tampa Bay, in which the receiver replied that he and “Playoff Lenny” were going to work it out.

General manager Jason Licht managed to retain the aforementioned four players, so who’s to say he can’t work out deals with both Brown and Fournette? If this offseason proved anything, it’s that we can’t doubt the man.

Brown sat on the sidelines for the beginning of the season due to his eight-game suspension. But prior to the ban running out, the Buccaneers signed him to a one-year contract. In his eight regular-season games, Brown caught 45-of-61 targets for 483 yards and four touchdowns. As for the playoffs, Brown hauled in eight of 12 targets from quarterback Tom Brady for two touchdowns, one of them coming in the Super Bowl.

Fournette started off the 2020 league year as the starting running back for the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, the team decided to move on from him via release after they claim they could not get any return for him. So, it was fitting that he joined the in-state Buccaneers. In 13 games, Fournette rushed for 367 yards and six touchdowns on 97 carries. Fournette picked up his production in the playoffs, as he ran for 300 yards and three scores on 64 carries.

These two players did have a role in the Buccaneers winning their second ever Super Bowl title in franchise history, and Brown basically let the organization know that he wants to run it back with the team in 2021.
