Former Oklahoma football stars who still need an NFL team in 2021

These two former Oklahoma football stars are in need of a NFL new team for 2021.

Not every former Oklahoma football legend has a home entering the 2021 NFL season.

Oklahoma has long been the preeminent program in the Big 12 conference. The Sooners have won their Power 5 conference each of the last six seasons, making four trips to the College Football Playoff in the process. While the elusive national semifinal victory still evades them, the Oklahoma football program is in fantastic shape. Let’s hope these two former Sooners legends get signed.

Here are the two former Oklahoma stars who are without a team heading into the summer.

Oklahoma football: These two former Sooners stars need an NFL team

Dede Westbrook

WR Jacksonville Jaguars

It sounds like Dede Westbrook is very close to signing with a team this summer

After spending his first four years in the league with the Jacksonville Jaguars, wide receiver Dede Westbrook may not have to wait all that much long to find his new place of employment. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports several teams have been interested in signing Westbrook, who is coming off a season-ending torn ACL. He is six months post-op, and looks to be ready to play at this time.

Adrian Peterson

RB Detroit Lions

Why would we not want to see Adrian Peterson try to play forever?

Adrian Peterson is a living legend at the running back position. He was already a first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer after his initial run with the Minnesota Vikings. Firmly in his mid-30s, the former Oklahoma superstar is coming off a 600-yard season with the 2020 Detroit Lions. If he signs on with somebody for 2021, he will almost certainly achieve 15,000 career rushing yards.

Overall, the Sooners will end up seeing both of these former stars playing somewhere. Westbrook could be signed any day now. While Peterson may have to wait a little longer, he is only two years removed from his eight 1,000-yard rushing season when he was with Washington. Even though he is well past his prime, somebody is going to end up signing him because he’s Adrian Peterson.

Where will former Sooners stars Peterson and Westbrook end up playing this season in the NFL?
