The Kansas City Chiefs can add these three free agents to help make their roster even better.

Even though the Kansas City Chiefs have one of the best rosters in the NFL, there is always room for improvement.

The two-time defending AFC champions have been to back-to-back Super Bowls and have been the best team in their conference since Patrick Mahomes took over the starting quarterback job. However, they are the hunted in the AFC now, and there are a handful of teams poised to knock them down a peg if they don’t show up for battle every single fall Sunday this upcoming season.

Here are three free agents the Chiefs can still add a week after the 2021 NFL Draft has ended.

Golden Tate

Golden Tate can improve the Chiefs’ strong wide receiver corps upon arrival

Wide receiver Golden Tate has spent 11 seasons in the NFL with four different teams. While he had great team success on his rookie contract with the Seattle Seahawks, he had his best personal success catching passes for four years with the Detroit Lions. He has most recently been with the New York Giants the last two years and with the 2018 Philadelphia Eagles before that.

Tate may be on the wrong side of 30, but he rarely misses games and can make big-time plays in most receiving corps. To be fair, he is coming off his worst season in the league with the 2020 Giants with only 35 catches for 388 yards and two trips to pay dirt. With that in mind, he could be playing with a bit of a chip on his shoulder in 2021. Maybe the Chiefs can take advantage here?

While Kansas City drafted former Clemson standout Cornell Powell in the fifth round, that may not be enough to completely offset losing Sammy Watkins to the Baltimore Ravens in NFL free agency. Tate may not be the burner of Watkins or nearly as youthful as Powell. However, the Chiefs adding a veteran presence to an already impressive receiving corps could be in play here.
