Bears to reportedly open on Sunday Night Football against Rams

The Chicago Bears are expected to open the 2021 NFL season at the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football.

For the first installment of Sunday Night Football in the 2021 NFL season, the matchup is reportedly between the Chicago Bears and the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium.

While this will be the second season SoFi Stadium has been in operation, it will be the first to allow fans to be in attendance during Rams and Los Angeles Chargers games. Super Bowl 56 will be held in Inglewood as well, with native Angeleno Al Michaels expected to call his final Super Bowl of his illustrious broadcasting career. So why not begin the Sunday night slate at SoFi Stadium, too?

How should Bears and Rams fans feel about playing each other on Sunday night in Week 1?

Chicago Bears to play Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football in Week 1

For Bears fans, anything and all things Bears football-related is exciting because Chicago finally has a franchise quarterback it can believe in in Justin Fields. While it remains to be seen when Fields will overtake presumptive Week 1 starter Andy Dalton, Chicago has never had this much optimism surrounding its football team probably since the 1985 team that won the Super Bowl.

As for Rams fans, it has been a while since they could see their team play. Not only will they have to get used to not watching a game from Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, but they will have a new quarterback under center in Matthew Stafford. After hardly ever playing in primetime during his days leading the Detroit Lions, Stafford gets a Sunday night start right away in Los Angeles.

With two playoff teams from a year ago with two new starting quarterbacks, this should be fun.
