Richard Sherman wants to join Steelers, but is it realistic?

Veteran cornerback Richard Sherman has stated he’d be interested in potentially joining the Pittsburgh Steelers for next season.

Here we are in May and former All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman is still looking for a new place to call home. After suiting up for the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers, could a move to Heinz Field be in the cards?

That very well could happen, as Sherman has come out and said he’s got interest in potentially suiting up for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The only question is, does the team have interest in him?

Richard Sherman has interest in potentially signing a new deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers

In his prime, there’s no question Sherman was one of the best cornerbacks in the game. However, he’s lost a step or two in recent years. That doesn’t mean he couldn’t come in and make an impact for the Steelers. Last season for San Francisco, Sherman was only able to play in five games due to a calf injury. He finished the campaign with 18 tackles and one interception.

Sherman has received interest from multiple teams, including the Seahawks. While with Seattle, Sherman was an absolute stud. Not only did he help the team win the Super Bowl in February of 2014, but he also earned First-Team All-Pro honors on three different occasions.

In 2019 with the 49ers, he earned a Pro Bowl selection after tallying 61 tackles and three interceptions. Sherman just turned 33 years old, but it’s clear he’s not ready to hang up his cleats just yet.

One team is going to end up giving him a shot to keep making plays. Will it be the Steelers? We’ll have to wait and see to find that out, but if he’s cheap enough, signing Sherman to a one-year deal may be a wise move for Mike Tomlin’s squad.
