The Minnesota Vikings could fill out their roster with some of the big-name free agents out there. But who should they pursue and who should get a pass?

The Vikings’ OTAs are in full swing and minicamp is fast approaching. Is the current makeup of the roster complete?

Minnesota could make a run at several veteran free agents who are still on the open market to shore up areas of concern.

What’s left to figure out is who looks worth the trouble.

Minnesota Vikings news and rumors: Vikings free agency targets

Russell Okung, left tackle

Back in 2017, the Vikings tried to land Russell Okung. They were unsuccessful as the left tackle decided to sign with the Chargers. He was a Pro Bowler that season, but he’s had trouble staying on the field in more recent years. He played 13 games in 2019 and 2020 combined.

Minnesota drafted Christian Darrisaw in the first round. They have a young left tackle to gamble on instead of a veteran with injury problems.

Verdict: Pass

Melvin Ingram, defensive end

Speaking of former Chargers, Ingram is on the market as an edge rusher. He too has recent injury woes. He played in seven games without a single tackle for loss in 2020 while battling a knee injury. That’s not ideal, but the 31-year-old managed consistent high-level production before that down year.

You can never have too many capable pass rushers in the NFL. Ingram feels worth the risk given his recent ceiling.

Verdict: Pursue
