Morgan Moses signing with Bears would fix last glaring hole on offensive line

The Chicago Bears may look to add veteran offensive tackle Morgan Moses to the roster.

After releasing Charles Leno about a month ago, the Chicago Bears may soon have his replacement in veteran offensive tackle Morgan Moses.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Moses will be visiting the Bears on Wednesday. If the seven-year NFL veteran out of Virginia ends up signing with Chicago, the Bears will have effectively swapped offensive tackles with the Washington Football Team, as Leno signed with them recently.

Moses has started all 16 games every year for Washington since the 2015 NFL season.

By adding Moses, it could go a long way toward shoring up the Bears’ offensive line for 2021 and giving them a much-needed veteran presence at tackle. The Bears plan to start second-round pick Teven Jenkins at left tackle while Moses would be penciled in at right tackle if he is signed.

Chicago Bears: Morgan Moses could be a huge boost to the offensive line

With the Bears trading up to No. 11 to draft Ohio State football star Justin Fields over a month ago, the future is now in Chicago. While Andy Dalton may end up getting the start Week 1 for the Bears, this will end up being Fields’ team well before the weather starts to change this fall. The best thing the Bears can do for the young quarterback is to protect him with savvy veterans in the trenches.

Moses will be entering his age-30 season. Given that he has not missed a game since his second season in the league, he gives off the vibe of a plug-and-play guy at offensive tackle. Even though Washington had its issues offensively in recent years, that had more to do with bad quarterback play more than anything. The offensive line has always been well-coached.

After visiting the Jets before the Bears, Moses is expected to make a few more stops on his free agent tour unless the Bears give him an offer he can’t refuse.
