Aaron Rodgers not expected to play a snap this preseason

In a bit of a surprise, Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has said that he doesn’t expect star signal-caller Aaron Rodgers to play at all this preseason.

For Green Bay Packers supporters who are sitting on pins and needles waiting to see Aaron Rodgers throw touchdowns against the opposition, they’re going to have to wait a little longer. Matter of fact, don’t expect to see him do so until September?

According to head coach Matt LaFleur, the expectation is that Rodgers won’t be taking the field for a single snap this preseason. This seems a bit strange, especially with Rodgers looking so sharp at camp. How do Green Bay supporters feel about this?

Aaron Rodgers not playing this preseason seems like a strange decision

With Rodgers spending his preseason time on the sidelines, this of course means it will be time for Jordan Love to show everyone what he’s made of. There’s no quarterback battle here, as Rodgers will no question lead the offense out for Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints.

With that said, Love was the first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and he’s the signal-caller of the future for the NFC North powerhouse. Throughout the preseason, he’ll get plenty of time running the show and give folks a preview of what he’ll be able to do down the road once Rodgers is out of town.

With that said, why wouldn’t Rodgers get some limited time in the preseason to gel with the offense? The team is clearly confident that he won’t be rusty for Week 1 and they’ll be able to tighten things up in practice.

We’ll see if this decision by LaFleur backfires or not. For now, though, we’ll have to wait a little longer to see No. 12 dropping dimes in a game.
