The Chicago Bears have signed Philadelphia Eagles legend Jason Peters immediately after Justin Fields’ preseason debut with the team.
Immediately after Justin Fields made his preseason debut, the Chicago Bears signed future Pro Football Hall of Famer in longtime Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Jason Peters.
After going undrafted out of Arkansas in 2004, Peters put together a hall-of-fame career initially with the Buffalo Bills before becoming a mainstay in the City of Brotherly Love for 12 seasons. Peters will be playing his age-39 season out of Arkansas this year. With one Super Bowl ring on the resume, Peters is hoping to guide the Bears on a special season of their own here in 2021.

Though Peters is past his prime, his prime was thoroughly magnificent from 2007 to 2016 with the Bills and Eagles. He made it to the Pro Bowl nine times in that decade and earned two First-Team All-Pro nods during that span. Peters is a member of the 2010s NFL All-Decade Team for his dominating play at left tackle. His Chicago signing means they want to win with Fields this season.
Because Fields has significantly fewer NFL throws over his backups Andy Dalton and Nick Foles, one would expect Fields to use his legs a bit more than we saw at Ohio State in his rookie year in the NFL. Over time, he will become the refined passing star we saw in the Big Ten the last two years. However, everybody he is playing with and against in the NFL is undoubtedly a professional.
By signing Peters, the Bears are fortifying their offensive line to make a big statement in the NFC.
