Jordan Love avoids major injury but Packers fans need to be concerned

The Green Bay Packers need to see Jordan Love play in every preseason game this summer.

Though Jordan Love was able to avoid a major injury in his preseason debut, the Green Bay Packers should still be concerned about it, as they need to see him play in every game this summer.

Love made his Packers debut last week vs. the Houston Texans. While Houston won the meaningless exhibition contest, Love did look promising under center for Green Bay. However, every single preseason snap is a precious commodity for him, as the Packers need to know what they have in their former first-round pick before they eventually part ways with Aaron Rodgers.

While the MRI on his shoulder came back clean, Love is not practicing on Monday for Green Bay.

Green Bay Packers should be a bit concerned about Jordan Love’s shoulder injury

Rookie quarterbacks from a season ago like Love did not have a preseason to play in last year. With essentially no experience at the NFL level, it is paramount for guys who did not play at all like Love and Jacob Eason of the Indianapolis Colts to show their teams what they can do. While Eason was a fourth-rounder out of Washington, Green Bay traded up to draft Love out of Utah State.

Missing a day’s worth of preseason practice is one thing, but missing an entire preseason game is another. If Love’s shoulder keeps him out of this week’s preseason game vs. the New York Jets, that could be a huge problem. Keep in mind that Love is not expected to play at all during the regular season. Love may complete half of his rookie contract without taking a meaningful snap.

An extra day of rest may be exactly what Love needs to get his shoulder back to feeling good.
