Browns screwed over on awful pass interference call vs Chargers (Video)

The NFL officials owe the Cleveland Browns an apology after this awful pass interference call.

In a tight ballgame between the Cleveland Browns and the Los Angeles Chargers, the officials decided to make the game about themselves with one of the most egregious pass interference calls you will ever see.

On a fourth-and-4, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert heaved it in wide receiver Mike Williams’ direction. Browns cornerback A.J. Green was being held by Williams on the contested catch. However, the referees decided Green was at fault here. This botch-job of an officiating blunder gave the Bolts a new set of downs. It resulted in a Chargers touchdown only a few plays later.

If anything, Williams should have been flagged on this play for offensive pass interference here.

Very rarely does an official actually impact a game to the degree in which many fans believe they do. However, when a pair of 3-1 AFC playoff contenders clash in the late-afternoon window, do better. These could be two of the seven teams making the playoffs out of the AFC. If the Chargers go on to win this game, Cleveland has every reason to complain to the league office over this play.

The only saving grace here is the Chargers did miss a game-tying PAT on the ensuing possession.
