New York Giants rookie wide receiver Kadarius Toney showed his arm during Monday night’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The New York Giants had what was viewed as a hard matchup on paper against the Kansas City Chiefs before the season. New York had a good chance of earning an upset win due to Kansas City’s bad defense, meaning they needed to pull off all the stops to defeat them.
Luckily for the Giants, they have rookie wide receiver Kadarius Toney, who can pretty much do anything. He proved just that after threw a 19-yard pass to fellow wide receiver Sterling Shepard for a first down.
Kadarius Toney can do it all for the Giants, even pass the ball
This is Toney’s first game back since suffering an ankle injury during the team’s 38-11 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. He was listed as a game-time decision, but was activated just prior to kickoff.
The Giants uncharacteristically traded down in the first-round of the NFL Draft in a deal with the Chicago Bears and selected the Florida wideout. Toney had a breakout performance against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5, where he caught 10-of-13 targets for 189 yards, setting the single-game rookie receiving yard record previously held by Odell Beckham Jr.
Toney was only targeted one time in the first half, which he caught for a five-yard gain. It will be interesting to see if that changes in the second half.
