Michigan football HC Jim Harbaugh will reportedly leave for Raiders if offered

Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh will leave the Wolverines to take the Las Vegas Raiders job if they offer it to him, according to Bruce Feldman.

Rumors surrounding Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh have been all over the place since he took the Wolverines to the College Football Playoff.

Michigan fans may have enjoyed the 2021 season and looked forward to bigger and better things in 2022. However, the idea of Harbaugh leaving for the NFL hasn’t gone away.

Now, Bruce Feldman of The Athletic has given Wolverines real reason to worry.

Jim Harbaugh would leave Michigan to join the Raiders

“Sources inside Michigan think Jim Harbaugh would take Las Vegas Raiders job if offered,” Feldman tweeted on Wednesday afternoon.

The possibility of Harbaugh returning to the NFL at any moment has always loomed large over Michigan since they landed him in 2015. While he has spent the majority of his time as a college head coach, first at San Diego then Stanford, Harbaugh had a relatively successful tenure as the 49ers head coach from 2011 to 2014.

He parted ways with San Francisco when he missed the playoffs in that final season but before that, he made it to the NFC Championship or better three times in three years. His 2012 squad made it to the Super Bowl and lost to the Ravens.

It’s easy to see why he would be the most interesting college name attached to NFL openings. Unlike Urban Meyer or Matt Rhule, Harbaugh has proven accomplishments at the pro level.

It sounds like it will all come down to what the Raiders do. Las Vegas and head coach Jon Gruden split midseason and GM Mike Mayock was just let go by the franchise. Interim head coach Rich Bisaccia, who took the team to the playoffs, is among several candidates the Raiders will reportedly interview.
