Los Angeles will celebrate the Rams win in Super Bowl 56 by changing the Hollywood sign to “Rams House” ahead of the victory parade.
The Hollywood sign is getting a temporary facelift this week as the Rams continue to celebrate their Super Bowl 56 victory.
On Monday, workers started putting covers over the iconic H-O-L-L-Y-W-O-O-D letters to change them to R-A-M-S-H-O-U-S-E.
“This town has the best teams and fans in the world, and we can’t wait to show off our L.A. pride with a display that only Hollywood could deliver,” Mayor Eric Garcetti said in a statement.
The installation will stay up from Monday through Wednesday, per the LA Times.
Hollywood sign replaced to honor Rams Super Bowl 56 win
The Bengals have “Who Dey?” The Saints have “Who Dat?” The Rams have their own chant, which became the source of that sign change.
“Who’s house?” is the call.
“Ram’s house!” is the response.
The Hollywood sign has been lit up for the Olympics and New Year’s Eve celebrations but direct changes to it have been mostly unofficial. Except for the occasional vandal (like the ones who changed it to H-O-L-L-Y-W-E-E-D in 2017), the sign is generally untouched.
A Super Bowl, the first for Los Angeles since the Raiders won Super Bowl XVIII in 1984, is a pretty decent reason to do something new and special.
While the franchise won a Super Bowl in 2000, that was in St. Louis after leaving Los Angeles. This was the LA Rams’ first one. So the city is celebrating in style.
The team will have their victory parade on Wednesday beginning at the Shrine Auditorium and winding through the city en route to the LA Memorial Coliseum. There will be a rally outside that Olympic and former Super Bowl venue.
