Brian Flores says he turned down ‘millions’ to not sign NDA for Dolphins

In his interview with Bryant Gumbel on Real Sports, Brian Flores revealed that he did not sign a non-disparagement agreement for the Miami Dolphins.

Brian Flores is currently suing the NFL and three teams in particular for racial discrimination in the hiring process and in his firing by the Miami Dolphins. After being let go by the Dolphins, Flores did not receive any of the nine head coaching jobs available. This past week, Flores signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers to be their senior defensive assistant and linebackers coach.

Flores appeared on Real Sports on HBO and confirmed to host Bryant Gumbel that the Dolphins asked him to sign a non-disparagement agreement, which was presented by team owner Stephen Ross, following his firing on Jan. 10, but he declined to do so. Additionally, Flores’ attorney, John Elefterakis, said that he turned down “millions of dollars” in the process.

Shortly after this clip surfaced on social media, the Dolphins released a statement, saying Flores’ claims that Ross asked him to sign the non-disparagement agreement are “categorically false.” Additionally, the Dolphins’ statement says that they are cooperating with the NFL’s investigation and that they are confident that Flores’ claims in his lawsuit will be proven false. You can read their full statement in ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques tweet below.

In his lawsuit, Flores alleged that Ross offered him $100,000 for every loss the team had in the 2019 season to ensure they received a better NFL Draft pick. You can look at the details of his lawsuit against the NFL, Dolphins, New York Giants and Denver Broncos at this link.

Flores said in his interview with Gumbel that he did not sign the separation agreement so that he could not be silenced in talking about his treatment by the Dolphins. But the organization is denying these claims.
