The Dolphins need to get Tua Tagovaila more help this offseason. They can achieve that goal by drafting one of these five players in the 2022 NFL Draft.

The biggest question facing the Dolphins at the moment is whether or not they can trust Tua Tagovaila to be their quarterback of the present and future. That makes the organization’s top offseason priority surrounding their young signal-caller with the talent required to succeed.

That makes it highly likely that Miami will go for an offensive player in Round 1 of April’s draft. Unfortunately, the Dolphins don’t have their own selection. Instead, they won’t go on the clock until the No. 29 overall pick that originally belonged to the 49ers.

The good news is that the Dolphins can still land an impact player at that late juncture in Round 1. It will be a surprise if Miami doesn’t go for either a tackle or wide receiver. The only change in those plans could be if a potential game-changing pass rusher falls into their laps.

5. Jermaine Johnson

Johnson is the only defensive player on this list due to the Dolphins’ desperate need for offensive upgrades. It’s unlikely that he’ll fall all the way to No. 29, but if he does, Miami is going to have a really difficult choice on their hands.

Johnson is just the sort of explosive, twitchy edge rusher that every modern defense covets. He may lack the weight to play as a traditional edge, but it’s easy to envision him blossoming into a double-digit sack artist from a standup linebacker spot.

Getting that kind of value at the bottom of Round 1 is hard to pass up. If Johnson falls this far the Dolphins might be forced to change their plans.
