The busy offseason for the Dallas Cowboys has continued with the team reportedly looking to trade star offensive tackle La’el Collins.
In what’s been a very busy offseason for the Dallas Cowboys, it looks like Jerry Jones and the front office are only getting started. While the Amari Cooper release news made plenty of headlines, a trade of a key player could be coming too.
According to Ian Rapoport, Dallas is actively looking to trade offensive tackle La’el Collins. Collins has spent the first six seasons of his career in Arlington, but a change could be coming for the 6-foot-4, 320-pounder.
Dallas should receive plenty of interest on tackle La’el Collins
Despite battling some injuries throughout his career, Collins has been a force in the trenches for the Dallas offense. Since 2015, the veteran lineman has appeared in 74 games and made 71 starts.
Because of his experience and ability to throw pass-rushers to the ground, Dallas is expected to get plenty of calls on Collins for a potential trade. If Dallas were to trade Collins, it’d free up cap space, as he’s owed $10 million next season.
What hurts here, however, is that Collins has played a big role in the Dallas offensive line looking so great in recent years. With Collins putting on a show, Dallas has consistently given Dak Prescott plenty of time to throw the ball, while the unit as a whole has opened up some big holes for Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard.
Losing Collins would be a bit of a blow for this team. Only time will tell if Dallas ends up sending Collins to a new team, but we could find out sooner than later if he’ll be donning a new jersey next season.
