Chiefs host perfect Tyreek Hill replacement for NFL Draft visit

The Kansas City Chiefs could have a replacement for Tyreek Hill in mind, as Jameson Williams visited the facilities on Thursday.

Somewhere, Patrick Mahomes is smiling.

Jameson Williams — expected to be on of the top wide receivers taken in late April’s NFL Draft, visited the Chiefs on Thursday. He posted a photo on his Instagram story at The Country Club Plaza in Kansas City.

Williams is still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in the National Championship Game. He met with Vice President of Sports Medicine and Performance, Rick Burkholder, who got a chance to see up close and personal how well he is doing in his injury recovery. Previously, Williams has stated that he’s ahead of schedule.

Chiefs: Jameson Williams an excellent target for Patrick Mahomes

After losing Tyreek Hill, the team is lacking on the outside, specifically in terms of deep threats and possession receivers.

Williams is a St. Louis native, and would be a tremendous fit in an offense that needs a player just like him. He should also be available close to when Kansas City picks at selection No. 29.

The Chiefs weren’t allowed to conduct football-related activities with Williams, as he’s still injured at the moment. These top-30 visits are primarily for familiarity reasons, and injury updates. Kansas City is Williams’ hometown NFL team now that the Rams are in Los Angeles. Bringing him back to the area would serve as a feel-good story for KC’s first-round selection.

Take into account that the Chiefs could use more wide receiver help outside of Mecole Hardman, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Williams could aid KC’s receiving corps in getting even better in 2022. Having Travis Kelce doesn’t hurt matters, either.

Perhaps Brett Veach knew what he was doing when he traded Hill, after all.
