The Pittsburgh Steelers are still working on rebuilding their offense and they apparently are interested in having George Pickens help out with that.
After picking Kenny Pickett in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers have gone out and picked up George Pickens, the former Georgia Bulldogs receiver in the second round. With those two selections, it sure looks like the Steelers are committed to rebuilding their offense as they move forward.
He was injured last season and unable to play for much of Georgia’s 2021 campaign, but the Steelers are interested in having Pickens play for them as they look toward their future.
Pickett will probably be pretty fond of having Pickens in Pittsburgh, even if he isn’t selected to be the starter for the Steelers at some point this season.
During his time at Georgia, Pickens caught 90 passes for 1,347 yards and 14 touchdowns in 24 games. That’s not exactly a lot, but Georgia doesn’t really air the ball out as much as some other programs.

This is a pretty good pick. Sure, there’s the injury to consider, but it looks like Pickens is healthy once more. Getting him in the second round isn’t much of a gamble and it has to be an encouraging sign for Pickett as he examines how his new team will look.
After drafting a young quarterback who many expect to develop into the starter at some point in his career, it makes sense that the Steelers would find a talented, young receiver to help redevelop their offense as they work to develop their quarterback.
The Steelers, who are focusing on rebuilding for the future, definitely got a good receiver here. It’ll be fascinating to see how picking Pickett and Pickens pans out for Pittsburgh over the years.
