The Seattle Seahawks did not draft a rookie quarterback, because head coach Pete Carroll has so much faith in Drew Lock.
Even though the 2022 quarterback class in the NFL Draft was far from the most superior as in years past, there was an expectation that teams in need of a signal caller would select one. With the Seattle Seahawks trading Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos, fans wondered who the team would draft. The answer was none.
When speaking with KJR 93.3FM, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll expressed his confidence in Drew Lock, who came over in the Wilson trade. Carroll has so much confidence in the fourth-year quarterback, that he says he would have been the top quarterback in the 2022 draft class.

Lock was obviously part of the 2019 draft class, where he was the fourth quarterback taken behind Kyler Murray, Daniel Jones and Dwayne Haskins. Lock was selected in the second round of the draft by the Broncos.
In his rookie year, Lock did show promise when given starts late in the campaign. Yet, that promise never really translated in subsequent years. In fact, the Broncos brought in Teddy Bridgewater to start over Lock last season.
Through his three seasons with the Broncos (24 games, 21 starts), Lock threw for 4,740 yards, 25 touchdowns and 20 interceptions while completing 59.3-percent of his passes. As a starter, Lock has an 8-13 win-loss record.
The Seahawks brought in Lock and re-signed Geno Smith to the roster. Even though the team was linked to Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield, Carroll said, via ESPN’s Brady Henderson, that he does not see the team trading for a quarterback this offseason.
Even though the Seahawks had the chance to draft Kenny Pickett, Desmond Ridder and Malik Willis, they opted against so. They seem more than comfortable with the current signal-callers on their roster, as evidenced by Carroll’s comments.
