Saints running back Alvin Kamara was indicted on charges stemming from an alleged beating at a nightclub before last year’s Pro Bowl weekend.
A little over a year ago, Alvin Kamara finished off Pro Bowl weekend by being arrested for his role in an alleged beating in Las Vegas.
Now he’s heading for court.
On Thursday, a Clark County grand jury indicted the Saints running back, along with three others including new Bengals cornerback Chris Lammons, on charges of conspiracy to commit battery and battery resulting in substantial bodily harm, which is a felony.
If convicted, Kamara could face a prison sentence from one to five years as well as a fine of up to $10,000.

Kamara and his co-defendants are accused of beating Darnell Greene at Drai’s Nightclub the night before the 2022 Pro Bowl.
His attorneys, David Chesnoff, Drew Findling and Richard Schonfeld, released the following statement: “The state has avoided a contested preliminary hearing by indicting Mr. Kamara. He intends to vigorously fight the allegations at trial as he was defending himself and others at the
time of the incident.”
That a fight took place isn’t in question. TMZ released security video which appears to show Kamara punching Greene multiple times. According to a civil lawsuit he filed against Kamara, Greene sustained injuries to his neck, back, head shoulder, knees and “a disfiguring facial fracture” from the attack. Photos of his bloodied face seemed to back up those claims.
The question a jury may have to deliberate over is in what context the fight took place. The running back claims he was acting in self-defense.
Unless something changes, Kamara will be due in court on March 2.
The NFL surprisingly did not hit Kamara or Lammons with a suspension for the 2022 season. It will be interesting to see if progress in the legal proceedings impacts the league’s decision-making on this incident.
Kamara appeared in 15 games in 2022, rushing for 897 yards and two touchdowns on 223 carries while catching 57 passes for 490 yards and two touchdowns. It was the first year in his career he did not receive a Pro Bowl nod.
Lammons was a special teams regular for the Chiefs over the last two seasons. He was picked up by the Bengals on Feb. 13 after being waived by KC.
