Betting odds reveal who Panthers will likely select at No. 1 overall at NFL Draft

Just because it’s time for March Madness, doesn’t mean the NFL doesn’t still reign supreme when major news breaks, and that’s exactly what happened on Saturday.

It was announced that the Chicago Bears have traded the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft to the Carolina Panthers.

That means the Panthers are effectively on the clock.

It didn’t take long after the trade was announced for the odds for which player will be drafted first overall to rapidly move. Bryce Young had been the betting favorite for the entire offseason, but that is no longer the case.

Let’s look at the latest odds.

NFL Draft No. 1 pick odds

Just like that, Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud is now the new betting favorite to be selected first overall. This is following reports that he is the quarterback of choice of the Panthers.

The betting odds have him set as the -300 to be selected first overall, which is an implied probability of 75%. Of course, this is the NFL and nothing is guarnteed.

There have also been reports that even though Stroud is the Panthers guy, they may be open to trading down if they feel they can still get him a few picks later. That could open things up for someone like Bryce Young or Anthony Richardson to be selected first overall instead.

Whatever happens, you can rely on the betting odds to show you the most likely outcome heading into the NFL Draft. Who needs the Adam Schefter’s of the world when we have sportsbooks to tell us the news?
