Travis Kelce finally redeems world’s worst first pitch

After throwing a first pitch that he would like to forget, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce received another opportunity, courtesy of the Royals.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce had quite the start to 2023, as he hoisted the Lombardi Trophy for the second time in his career. While celebrating this achievement, Kelce lived in infamy in terms of first pitches. And no, it wasn’t for a good first pitch.

Kelce had the opportunity to throw out the first pitch for the Cleveland Guardians back on Apr. 7 and completely whiffed the chance. By that, we mean that Kelce spiked the baseball on the ground to home plate. After being trolled mercilessly by the internet and teammate Patrick Mahomes, Kelce had his chance at redemption.

On Monday, the Royals hosted “Chiefs night” to celebrate the reigning Super Bowl champions. It wasn’t Mahomes who got the nod to throw out the first pitch, it was Kelce. With Bobby Witt Jr. crouched at home plate, Kelce delivered the perfect pitch!

Travis Kelce redeems himself with the first pitch for the Royals

Redemption, thy name is Travis Kelce.

While not a perfect first pitch, it was way better than his throw to Shane Bieber in Cleveland back in April. Speaking of Bieber, the pitcher sent out a tweet and tagged Kelce with a message, “Bro we gotta talk,” complete with a crying laughing emoji.

As for the Royals, they are hosting the Cincinnati Reds with the Chiefs in attendance. Maybe having the Super Bowl champions in attendance will allow the Royals to return to their winning ways. Entering Monday night, the Royals were 18-47 on the year, ranking dead last in what has become a wide-open and rather bleak AL Central division. Not to mention, the Royals were 1-9 in their previous 10 games.

While Kelce’s first pitch earlier this year will be remembered for all the right reasons, Kelce had the chance to totally redeem himself. And he did so on Monday.
