Cincinnati Bengals, Kansas City Chiefs

Ja’Marr Chase fires savage shot at Patrick Mahomes: ‘Pat who?’

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase continues the team’s feud with the Kansas City Chiefs by throwing shade at quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

There is a new heated rivalry in the NFL, and it’s between two AFC powerhouses, the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals. From the Bengals calling Arrowhead Stadium “Burrowhead Stadium,” to the Cincinnati mayor Aftab Pureval throwing multiple shots at the Chiefs, to tight end Travis Kelce calling Pureval a “jabroni” after their AFC Championship Game win. Just when you thought the rivalry settled down, it picked up once again.

On Wednesday, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was asked about who he believes is the number one quarterback in the NFL, and he answered Patrick Mahomes. While that’s all well and good, that same question was asked to Cincinnati wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, who responded with Burrow. When the reporter told him that Burrow responded with “Pat,” Chase asked, “Pat who?”

And now, all of Kansas City is going to use this as bulletin board material.

Last season, the Bengals defeated the Chiefs 27-24 in Week 13 in Cincinnati. After defeating the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round, the Bengals were feeling confident about their chances against the Chiefs. Let’s not forget that one year prior, the Bengals beat the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Bengals had the chance to force overtime. However, rookie defensive end Joseph Ossai hit Mahomes late out of bounds, giving the Chiefs 15 yards and a first down, allowing Harrison Butker to kick a 45-yard, game-winning field goal.

Cincinnati and Kansas City will meet up in Week 17 of this upcoming season. War of words or not, this matchup has become appointment television, as both are among the best teams in the AFC.
